BusinessRate Media is a service of The Data Group LLC, Tempe, Arizona (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the BusinessRate Media Content Creator Kit service and the pages at media.businessrate.com. It does not cover the BusinessRate scoring platform, which has its own policy.
What we collect
You give us: name, business name, email address, phone number, city and state, and your description of your business, through the form on this site.
You send us as part of the service: video clips and photographs you record inside your business, and any audio recorded with them.
We collect automatically: standard web log data and, where you have consented, analytics about how you use this site.
Text messages
If you check the SMS consent boxes on our form, you agree to receive text messages at the number you gave us. Consent to marketing messages is not a condition of purchase. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for assistance. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.
How we use what we collect
- To write your shot list and produce, schedule and post your content
- To ship, track and recover the equipment kit
- To bill you and manage your subscription
- To contact you about your account and, with consent, about our services
- To improve the shot lists and templates we write for your category
Your footage
Footage you send us is yours. We use it only to produce the deliverables you have engaged us for, and to post to the accounts you have authorised. We do not license it to third parties or use it in our own advertising without your written permission.
You are responsible for having the right to record the people who appear in your footage. See the Terms of Service — this matters more than it sounds, particularly in healthcare settings.
Who we share it with
Service providers who help us deliver the service — payment processing, CRM and messaging, shipping, cloud storage and editing tools — under contract and only for that purpose. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where legally required.
Retention
Account and billing records are kept as long as required for tax and legal purposes. Footage and finished content are kept for 12 months after the end of the month they were supplied for, or until 30 days after a cancellation takes effect, whichever comes first. See Terms of Service section 6.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to opt out of certain sharing. Email privacy@businessrate.com and we will respond within the period the law requires.
Children
The service is for businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. Material changes will be emailed to active subscribers.
